Moneyline

A moneyline is a market betting on the specified winner rather than applying a points handicap. Its draw treatment and inclusion of extra time or other extensions depend on the sport and the market's rules.

Winner of which period?

A two-way market may exclude a draw through its settlement conditions, while a three-way market can explicitly offer home, draw and away. Regulation-time winner and eventual qualification are different questions. The same team can fail to win in regulation but advance later, so the market title alone needs context.

For example, a football match tied after 90 minutes and decided in extra time can settle a regulation three-way home selection as a loss while an eventual home qualification selection wins. That difference follows the accepted question, not an inconsistency in the final score.

Stake and return

At decimal 1.80, a ₹100 winning cash stake returns ₹180 including ₹80 profit. Odds express the price; moneyline expresses the market type. American, fractional and decimal displays can all be used for the same moneyline outcome. A minus or plus price format does not change which event is selected.

Comparison with handicaps

A point spread adjusts the score comparison by a stated number. A moneyline usually asks for the relevant winner without that adjustment. A favourite can win a match but fail a negative handicap. Read the accepted selection rather than treating every bet on that team as equivalent.

Settlement checks

Identify the competition, period, tie treatment, abandonment procedure and official result source. A void or push can arise only under the applicable rule. Do not assume a draw automatically refunds every moneyline wager. Keep the bet receipt and market description so a settlement can be checked against the exact event and period that were accepted.

Does a favourite's negative price include a handicap?

Not automatically. A negative American odds quote specifies the price ratio, while a negative point spread adjusts the score comparison. A team at -200 moneyline can be selected to win without needing a particular victory margin. A team at -3.5 spread must meet a different score condition. Confusing the two minus signs changes the question being bet on. Read the market field and odds field separately, and use the accepted receipt rather than inferring the selection from one isolated number.
