Wallet balance and funding source
A wallet can show its own balance and one or more linked cards or accounts. Choosing a funding source determines where the payment is debited. The wallet's internal balance is not always the same as the amount in the linked bank. A transaction record should identify which source was used and any conversion or fee.
Suppose a fictional wallet holds ₹500 and a user pays ₹700 using a linked bank under the wallet's rules. The entire ₹700 might come from the bank rather than using ₹500 wallet balance plus ₹200 bank funds. An interface total does not determine the allocation without its funding rule.
Deposit and withdrawal support
A platform may accept a wallet for deposits but restrict withdrawals, currencies or account ownership. A logo on a general payment page is not a transaction-specific promise. Check the authenticated cashier and the wallet provider's own conditions. Closed-loop rules can also influence the route used to return deposited funds.
Security and access
Wallet login credentials, authentication codes and recovery procedures protect control of the service. A payment reference can trace a transaction without exposing those secrets. A custodial payment wallet should not be confused with a non-custodial blockchain wallet, whose private-key responsibilities can be very different.
Comparing records
Keep the wallet transaction ID, funding source, debit amount, credited amount and currency. If the wallet shows success but the platform shows no balance update, ask about reconciliation rather than assuming the bank, wallet and platform have one shared ledger. A supported wallet improves routing convenience; it does not independently establish the recipient's licensing or performance.
Why can a wallet refund appear somewhere else?
A payment may have been funded by a linked card or bank rather than the wallet's stored balance. The provider's refund rules can therefore send money back to that funding source. Checking only the wallet total may miss a credit on the card statement. Use the original transaction's funding source and refund reference to trace it. Do not count a wallet notification and a bank credit as two separate refunds if they describe the same returned payment through different interfaces.
