Baccarat

Baccarat is a card game commonly offering bets on Player, Banker or Tie outcomes. Those labels identify the hands being compared, not necessarily the person placing the bet.

Cards are scored under the variant's rules, and drawing decisions usually follow a prescribed procedure. Banker commission, alternative payouts and side bets can materially change a table's terms.

Scoring Player and Banker hands

In common baccarat scoring, aces count one, cards two through nine use face value, and tens and face cards count zero. Only the final digit of the total counts: seven plus eight is five, not fifteen. Player and Banker are the names of two hands. A bettor chooses an outcome rather than controlling either hand's drawing decisions.

A Player hand totalling eight beats a Banker hand totalling six. Whether either hand receives a third card is determined by the variant's drawing table, which can depend on both totals and the Player's third card. An initial eight or nine is commonly a natural, but the exact table rules remain the authority for the round.

Commission and alternative payouts

A conventional commission table can pay winning Banker bets at less than even money after a stated commission. A no-commission variant may instead reduce the payout on a particular Banker result. Removing a visible commission label therefore does not automatically remove the mathematical cost. Tie bets and side bets have separate payout schedules and probabilities.

Reading streak displays

A road map or history grid shows prior outcomes. It does not prove that a streak will continue or reverse. In a shuffled-shoe game, card composition can change as cards are dealt, but a simple pattern on the screen does not establish a reliable predictive advantage. Keep the main bet, optional wagers and total round exposure separate when reviewing a balance movement.

In practice

Selecting Banker means backing the Banker hand's result. It does not mean taking over as dealer or receiving a guaranteed advantage on the next round.

What to check

Read the drawing rules, Tie payout, Banker commission or replacement condition, and any side-bet paytable for that specific table.
